Samsung Reported And Pushes Back Galaxy Fold Release

Can't say that we haven't seen this coming. Four days from the official release date of the Galaxy Fold, according to a report from The Wall Street Journal, Samsung is pushing things back a bit, There is no firm launch time frame, although at some point in May the phone is still expected "in the coming weeks." For comment, we have contacted Samsung and will update accordingly. 

When a number reported dysfunctional displays among an extremely small sample size, a number of reviewers gave the company no doubt a pause. citing "people familiar with the matter."

I haven't experienced any problems with my own device yet, but I can't ignore this kind of thing. The initial response of Samsung appeared to be aimed at mitigating push back, writing, "A limited number of early Galaxy Fold samples were provided for review by the media. We received some reports on the main display on the provided samples. We will inspect these units thoroughly in person in order to determine the cause of the issue.



It also went on to note that the problems may have arisen from users trying to peel back a "protective layer." Things turned to the more cautious over the weekend, however, when it was reported that the phone's launch events would be delayed in parts of Asia (we also reached out about that, but have not heard back). A bigger delay has seemed inevitable since then.
